Blue Licks Christian Church to hold concert The Blue Licks Christian Church will be having a hymn singing with Donna Dixon in concert on Sunday night August 31st at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcomed. Brothers-Parsons Stone Reunion to be held The Brothers-Parsons Stone reunion will be held August 31,2008 at the Carlisle Armory. Potluck lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m. Everyone welcome. Old Time Tent Revival to be held Old Time Tent Revival at 136 Calcutta Road Carlisle. September 1st 13th 6:30 nightly. Nicholas County Bookworms Club to meet The Nicholas County Bookworms Club will meet September 10th at 5:30 p.m. at the Carlisle Mercury office Kiwanis Club to meet Kiwanis Club will meet the third Thursday of every month at the Carnico Country Club. AA meetings held AA meetings are held every Tuesday at 8 p.m., except the third Tuesday of the month is at 7 p.m. in the Sparks Room of the Nicholas County Health Department. Orient Lodge #500 to hold meeting The Orient Lodge #500 meets the second Thursday night of each month at 7:30 p.m. All Master Masons are welcomed. N.C. Adult Learning Center News The Adult Learning Center offers a flexible schedule and personalized instruction to help students successfully complete their GED. The center offers students the opportunity to study at their own pace and on their own schedule. Interested persons may stop by anytime. between the hours 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. Praise and worship to be held Praise and worship every Friday night at the Carlisle Assembly of God. This week the group will be from the Bedford Acres Christian Church in Paris at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Feel free to call 859-576-6576 for information. Veterans Benefits Field Representative at Courthouse A Veterans Benefits Field Representative with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs will be at the Nicholas County Courthouse on the third Tuesday of each month. The hours are 9-11 a.m. Veterans and their families will be given counseling in filing for Federal and State Veterans benefits. This service is provided free of any charge or fee by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Veterans Affairs. Feel free to call and leave a message if we are out 1-866-376-0308 your call will be returned as soon as possible. Come see us and bring all documents pertaining to filing a claim. Auxiliary meets second Tuesday The Johnson Mathers Health Care Auxiliary meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the hospital dining room. Anyone interested in joining the auxiliary is welcome. NCHS ‘63 Football Team The NCHS Football Boosters would like to recognize the members of the 1st Nicholas County Football Team at the first home game, September 5. Health Department Closed The Nicholas County Health Department will be closed on Monday September 1, 2008 in observance of Labor Day. Girl Scouts Registration Girls Scout Registration September 2, 2008 6:30 8:30 at the Carlisle Untid Methodist Church. All girls of last year and any new girls to register. Doxology Singing group to perform at Millersburg Church Doxology singers will be featured as the fifth Sunday night hymn program, August 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Millersburg United Methodist Church.The Doxology Group has been together a number of years and has entertained numerous times in this area. The group consists of seven performers, Sharon Beckett, Cinda Tolliver, Pam Randolph, Patty Ockerman, Josh Sheppard, Tommy Hamm and Kim Fryman. A CD is being made and might be available at this program. Plan to come Sunday evening August 31 at 6:00 p.m. and hear this entertaining group. Rev. Ray Hanke, Pastor and Congregation invite everyone to this inspirational program. Fryman Family Reunion The 68th annual Fryman Reunion will be held Sunday August 31 at Sugar Creek resort. Potluck lunch served at 12:30 p.m. Everyone welcome. Revival Revival! The Elizaville Christian Church is pleased to announce guest speaker Russell Johnson from Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, KY. Russell Johnson is currently the KCU Assistant to the President of Leadership Development. Diabetes self-management classes The WEDCO District Health Department will be hosting Diabetes Self-Management education classes, each month.
