Nicholas News Triangle - Headquarters - Saltwell - Barterville By Ramona Hollar George Ms. Alberta Glass attended a birthday party given by Josh and Lindsey Fryman at their home on Sunday afternoon for their son Corbin who was one year old. Mr. Gene Kelly read scripture and made comments about it for the 1:30 service at Johnson Mathers Health Care in the absence of the scheduled minister. The Ervingsville Baptist Church gave the 3:00 o’clock service. They are always there on the third Sunday of the month. Ms. Judy Shrout sang a solo. I wasn’t there but I heard compliments on it. A group of singers brought special music. Rev. Albert Simmons brought the message. Our communities extend sympathy to the family of Ms. Wilma Letcher McClanhan. and also the family of Mr. Charles Feeback. He moved to Arizona many years ago because of health problems. He has many relatives in Carlisle and Nicholas County. His address is 3209 East Yucca Street, Phoenix, Az, 85028-2833. He visited Fred and Lelia Hollar in 1996. I think that was the last time he came to Nicholas County. He grew up on or near Mt. Carmel Road in Headquarters Road. I received a letter from Janie Robinson McGee who lives in Lexington. She was complimenting the new and improved Carlisle Mercury. Many of the family and other relatives, friends and neighbors enjoyed an 80th birthday celebration for Clestus Ritchie on Sunday at the beautiful home of Pam and Dennis Ritchie, Mt. Carmel Road. It was a surprise. Brenda Nolen, Phyllis Brady and several of the Doyle family attended a retirement reception at the Community Education Center near Harrison High School last week. Mrs. A.J. Doyle “Wanda” was among 14 who retired from the schools. They each received a rocking chair, a picture of their school and a Ky. Colonel Award in nice frame and someone gave a special talk about each one. Wanda had worked 31 years, and had already been honored twice just before the school year ended in May, receiving gifts, etc. including a large Thomas Kincaid picture. Last Sunday, Danita and Blaine Earlywine and sons also attended the birthday party for Christian Arnold at Centerville Church. Mrs. Julia Wilson, daughter of Harry and Sharon Feeback, passed all of her test and received her PHD (Doctorate Degree) the highest one can attain, from the University of Louisville. WOW! Congratulations Dr. Julia and her husband Ozell Wilson and twins attended The Louisville Bats Baseball game, a Triple A Team, and they won. Thenthe past Saturday Harry and Sharon and another daughter, Naette Leonard and husband, Weston attended the Ky. State Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Doyle and Elijah from Alexandria, Virginia spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doyle Headquarters and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Botts of Menifee County. Charles and Shelby had a wonderful supper for a lot for Charles family on Tuesday night and another meal on Friday night for Charles and Shelby’s children and families. Also while here Rob, Aleta and son visited Mr. and Mrs. David Doyle, Pondexter, and visited at he new home, his sister, Sharon and William Riggle are building and also visited brother, Jeff Dolye at his office. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beckett took vacation last week and spent four days at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Their anniversary was Aug. 10. The Headquarters United Methodist Church are very thankful for its young adults. The past week they worked cleaning and painting the entire basement. Some of them also hold offices, mow the lawn, clean the church, etc. They and their children comprise about half the church. The past Sunday there were around 44 in all for worship service. Phyllis Brady and Don Adams enjoyed eating with several members of Paris Church of the Nazarene at a Paris restaurant on Wednesday night, early, before the service that Rev. Vernon Adams conducted, like a Bible Study. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doyle, Jeff Doyle, Bridget and Michael Davis and many other Doyle’s enjoyed a picnic on Sunday afternoon at the Indian Creek Baptist Church, then the service at 6:00 with pastor Rev. Tom Moore. Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mr. J.T. Bow, who passed away on Wednesday, after a long illness, especially to his dear wife Ann and his children and grandchildren. |
