William Clyde “Billy” Towles
1945-2008

William Clyde “Billy” Towles, 62, died Wednesday August 13, 2008.

He was born in Nicholas County August 18, 1945 to the late Eula Hunter Grimes and was a construction worker and farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Berry Towles; three sons, Roy William (Kim) Towles, Kittrell, N.C., Frank (Christy) Towles, Carlisle and Nathan (Kathy) Towles, Georgetown; grandchildren, Alana, Austin, Dakota and Jacob Towles; stepdaughters, Jodie (David) Tucker and Karla Saunders, Georgetown; stepgreat-grandchildren Dillon and Emerson Tucker; two brothers, Phillip (Mary Jane) Lowe, Anaheim, CA and John (Delores) Lowe, Baldwinsville, NY; a special cousin, Kathleen McClanahan; a brother-in-law, Ronald Berry, Bunker Hill, IN; a sister-in-law, Dollie (Joe) Bailey, Lexington; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Lady, Tweety and Buddy.

He was preceded in death by a brother, R.L. Lowe.

His funeral services were held Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Gaylord Gillispie officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the Hospice of the Bluegrass or to the Humane Society. Clark Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Radford “Tubby” Cobb
1945-2008

Radford “Tubby” Cobb, 63, Mt. Olivet, died Tuesday August 19, 2008 at his residence. Born in Harrison County, July 19, 1945 to the late Redmon and Dorothy Ruhl Cobb. He was an employee of FKI Logistex in Maysville and a member of Kentontown Christian Church.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Redmon Lewis Cobb.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda L. Cobb; two sons, Mike (Barbie) Cobb, Carlisle and Ronnie (Deborah Whalen) Feeback, Cynthiana; two daughters, Darla (Paul) Jolly, Paris and Lisa Cobb, Carlisle; a brother, Kennth G. (Joy) Cobb, Cynthiana; four sisters, Mary Libby Richardson, Paris, Glenda Faye Watkins, Paris, Anna Kaye Cobb, Millersburg and Kathy Jo (Melvin) Jones, Cynthiana; seven grandchildren, Aaron Cobb, Allison Cobb, Brandon Jolly, Michael Feeback, Brandon Feeback, Justin Feeback and Ben Caudill; a dauter-in-law, Diane Feeback, Cynthiana and several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

His vistation will be Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Robertson County Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2008 at Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Conoly officiating. Burial will be in Kentontown Cemetery. Pauline Ritchie Jenkins
1923-2008

Pauline Ritchie Jenkins, 85, died Sunday August 17, 2008 at Johnson Mathers Nursing Home. Born in Nicholas County, May 11, 1923, to the late Nathan and Hazel Argo Ritchie, she was a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald H. Jenkins; two sons, William Nathan (Phyllis) Jenkins, Lexington and Donald Keith Jenkins, Carlisle; three brothers, Dudley Ritchie, Fleming County, Vinson Ritchie, Xenia, Ohio and Sturl Ritchie, Cynthiana; four grandchildren, Tony Jenkins, Donald Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, and Justin Jenkins; and four great grandchildren, Brooklyn Jenkins, Braydon Jenkins, Bryson Jenkins and Taylor Jenkins.

Besides her parents, she was a preceded in death by a sister, Wilma McCord.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Ware Funeral Home by Rev. Howard Livingood and Rev. James Gaunce. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2008. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. www.warefuneralhome.com

John Thadious Bow
1928-2008

John Thadious Bow, 79, died Wednesday August 13, 2008 after a long illness.

He was born in Paris, KY November 27, 1928 to the late Sydney and Sadie Lynam Bow. He served in the Korean War and was a member of the First Christian Church for 36 years. He was an employee of IBM for 32 years, also working in home construction, and the farmers market in Lexington.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Collins Bow, Carlisle; two daughters, Roxanne Bow, Frankfort, Jadene Gilkison, London; two grandchildren, Christen Gilkison and Collin Gilkison, London.

Funeral services were held Friday August 15, 2008 at Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Pumphrey and Rev. James Gaunce officiating. Burial followed in Paris Cemetery. Pallbearers were Aven Hicks, Philip Gilkison, Harvey Wilson, Irvin Hawkins, Kenneth Ishmael, Gail Bow. Honorary bearers were Buddy, Guy, Jerry Craycraft.

Wilma Letcher McClanahan
1920-2008

Wilma Letcher McClanahan, 87, widow of Herbert McClanahan, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 13, 1920 in Nicholas County to the late Earl and Minnie Vaughn Letcher, was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church, a member of the Homemakers and was retired from Jockey International.

Survivors include a son, Marty (Nancye) McClanahan, Butler; a daughter, Linda (Charles) Marshall, Burlington; three brothers, Eugene Letcher, Carlisle, Estill Letcher, Louisville and William T. Letcher, Jeffersonville, IN; three sisters, Marie Crawford, Carlisle, Mary Della Gillespie, Bourbon County and Faye Letcher, Carlisle; a grandson, Craig (Lori) Marshall, Cincinnati; a granddaughter, Dana (Matt) Lewandowski, Caledonia, MI; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clay, Ronnie and Gaylord Letcher.

Services were held Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Carlisle Christian Church by Rev. Steve Smith with burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Casketbearers were Jimmy, Jeff, Pat and Greg Letcher, Gary Crawford and Stephen Gillespie.

Honorary bearers were Craig Marshall, Matt Lewandowski and Matt Hughes. Memorial contributions suggested to Carlisle Christian Church.
